Fern Valley-Big Bend

Fern Valley is also in Mexico. We hiked up this little valley to this truly lovely little spot with pools of water and ferns growing out of the rock. Just getting to that spot required a bit of climbing and a hand up from the guides....


















And I'm thinking, ah, this was worth the effort I guess...and then they told us that the actual fern pool was up this rock climb, under a boulder, through a small waterfall and a long a ridge. And I said...Not happening.

I know my limits and breaking my leg was not something I intended to happen in the middle of this canyon. The boys however are part mountain goat so off they went while John and I enjoyed the scenery



Then it was time to head back. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the current on the way back, ha! It was a long day but the canyon was worth the effort. Although next time I might plan the trip for after the rainy season when they raft down the river.
